Wonderful.

Yes! Imagine if the truckers had used Monero instead of GoFundMe and GiveSendGo.

Just sayin’. 🤷‍♀️ 😜

Of course this will accelerate the totalitarian impulses and push toward digital id for internet access. Then it’s off to another round of car and mouse.

Lots of interesting things to consider here. You are correct. It will fail. And I also view the primary benefit of these protests as having unmasked the state. I saw a Canadian colleague finally stir from his slumber. (Not sure if he has gone back to sleep in the interim. 🛌 💤)

Thanks Monica!

The powers-that-were are also going to have a hard job ignoring the 150M$ in donations received by Ukraine through crypto whilst simultaneously claiming that Russians manage to use it to evade sanctions (there being in any case, that I can see, no particularly good reason why we should impoverish ordinary Russians by forced devaluation of their national currency - even if they would have been well advised to switch to self-custodied crypto long before this all happened and disruptions to trade are impoverishment enough).

When code is law, there is no one to subpoena, so all that targeting crypto will do is hasten its radical decentralization and even greater loss of state oversight. Satoshi Nakamoto is not reading his mails any more.

😂😝😉🤓

All of that.

There are some insights that I think prehistory, early city state history, and indeed, the evolution of the state itself, have to teach us here. I want to write about that soon.
